Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is an autologous treatment that is derived from your own blood. Platelets are vital for tissue repair and can stimulate the release of growth factors. PRP is created by taking a small sample of blood from the patient, then filtering the blood through a centrifuge to separate the components. The platelets are separated to create a dense plasma that is “rich” in platelets.
PRP has been used in medical treatments for decades. It can aid in faster wound healing as well as improve the appearance of skin for cosmetic treatments. In hair restoration, PRP injections are used in a few different ways to improve hair growth and tissue repair in the skin and scalp.
PRP Hair Restoration
PRP injections can be used as a non-surgical hair loss treatment and to accompany hair transplant surgery.
